Laboratory services
Fee-for-service blood biomarker testing for researchers studying Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias. We run validated assays on four platforms, on human samples.
What we measure
Each biomarker reflects a different part of the disease process.Tau phosphorylated at threonine 217. One of the most accurate blood markers of Alzheimer’s disease.
Pairs a marker that rises with one that falls in Alzheimer’s, sharpening the separation between amyloid-positive and amyloid-negative people.
Brain-derived p-tau217 targets tau made in the brain, not in peripheral tissues, for a cleaner signal of Alzheimer’s-related change.
An extended microtubule-binding region tau fragment that reaches the blood as tau tangles form. Tracks tangle pathology rather than amyloid.
Amyloid-beta 1–42. Lower blood levels reflect amyloid building up as plaques in the brain.
Neurofilament light chain is released when axons are injured. Not specific to one disease, but a sensitive gauge of active neurodegeneration.
Glial fibrillary acidic protein signals reactive astrocytes, one of the brain’s earliest responses to amyloid.
Apolipoprotein E measured in blood. Its ε4 form is the strongest common genetic risk factor for late-onset Alzheimer’s.
Identifies ε2, ε3 and ε4 alleles. Used to stratify cohorts and relevant to safety monitoring with anti-amyloid therapies.
Test menu by platform
All tests run on human samples.
Lumipulse G
A fully automated chemiluminescent immunoassay system used in clinical laboratories. Its p-tau217 / Aβ42 plasma ratio was the first blood test cleared by the FDA to aid Alzheimer’s diagnosis.
DxI 9000 Immunoassay Analyzer
A high-throughput, highly sensitive automated immunoassay analyzer built for large hospital laboratories, suited to big cohorts and fast turnaround.
NULISA
An ultra-sensitive proximity-ligation immunoassay that detects proteins at attomolar levels and measures several biomarkers from one small sample.
PCR
Polymerase chain reaction reads a person’s APOE genes directly from DNA, giving a definitive genotype to pair with blood biomarker results.
